Theatre, Fado and Classical Chinese Dance: Three November Premieres on Scena Digitală

Theatre, music and dance bring us closer together, across languages, borders and distances. This November, Scena Digitală, the online theatre, film, music, circus and dance platform of the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu (TNRS) and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), presents three premieres from Belgium, Portugal and China. “My Little emi”, “The Fado That Binds Us” and “Boundless Beauty” offer audiences an exploration of contemporary intimacy, a musical dialogue in the spirit of Fado and a journey through the traditions of classical Chinese dance.

“Every encounter with art gives us a chance to discover something about ourselves and others. In a world where we communicate so much, yet loneliness remains a challenge for many of us, we need emotion, closeness and the joy of sharing. November’s three premieres on Scena Digitală bring us artists from Belgium, Portugal and China, with different stories and traditions, united by this deeply human need to be together. We are delighted to bring them into your homes and invite you to discover, through theatre, music and dance, the beauty of each encounter.” – Constantin Chiriac, General Director of TNRS and President of FITS.

The three November premieres are:

“My Little emi” – Julia Huet Alberola / Aune Company, Belgium

EMI is a humanoid robot programmed to become the audience’s “ideal partner” in a world where even intimacy can be bought. Created by Julia Huet Alberola and performed by Sasha Martelli, “My Little emi” explores, with humour and poetry, the unsettling boundary between the illusion of love and real emotion, between the promise of a perfect connection and contemporary loneliness.

“The Fado That Binds Us” – Carolina Pessoa & Luís Travassos, Portugal

Two voices, guitar chords and a longing that connects people and stories: “The Fado That Binds Us” brings Carolina Pessoa and Luís Travassos together in an intimate concert where every song becomes a confession. Accompanied by Luís Barroso on Portuguese guitar and Hugo Martins on classical guitar, the artists weave tradition together with contemporary sensibility in a warm musical dialogue, between laughter and tears, where even silence finds a voice.

“Boundless Beauty” – Beijing Dance Academy, China

The greatest beauty needs no words; it comes to life through dance. “Boundless Beauty”, presented by Beijing Dance Academy, invites audiences on a journey through China’s history, poetry and traditions. From the splendour of the Tang dynasty to the tenderness of a romantic encounter and the strength of the heroic spirit, the performance combines the grace of classical Chinese dance with contemporary stage expression in a succession of stories told through movement.
