Three Performances Presented at FITS 2026 Premiere on the Digital Stage in August

The incandescent passion of flamenco dance, the profound joy of encountering theatre and the emotion of music entering into dialogue with Constantin Brâncuși’s work come together on the Digital Stage in August. Three performances presented at this year’s Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) will be available to watch online from anywhere in the world: “Carmen”, “Phèdre!” and “The Muses”.

The Digital Stage, the online platform for theatre, film, music, circus and dance created by the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu (TNRS) and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), thus continues to bring outstanding Romanian and international productions to audiences.

     1. “Carmen” – Passion, Freedom and Flamenco

“Carmen”, presented by Granada Flamenco Ballet from Spain and choreographed by Javier Martos, brings audiences one of the best-known stories about passion, freedom, jealousy and destiny. Inspired by Georges Bizet’s celebrated opera, the production preserves the power of the original story while offering a fresh perspective through the encounter between dance, music, theatre and the performing arts.

An incandescent performance in which flamenco transforms the protagonist’s passion, jealousy and tragic destiny into an explosion of movement and emotion.

     2. “Phèdre!” – A Declaration of Love for Theatre

“Phèdre!”, presented by François Gremaud & Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne from Switzerland and based on Jean Racine’s tragedy, is a playful and energetic monologue that reveals the beauty of the classical text and the power of its passions. Through Romain Daroles’s enthusiastic performance, the production explores Racine’s language, the mythological origins of the characters and the world of classical French theatre, transforming admiration for “Phèdre” into a declaration of love for theatre.

     3. “The Muses” – Music in Dialogue with Brâncuși’s Spirit

“The Muses”, presented by the “Remember Enescu” Cultural Foundation, brings together violinist Alexandru Tomescu, guitarist Dragoș Ilie and bandoneonist Omar Massa in a musical project dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși, marking 150 years since the great artist’s birth. The sound of the Stradivarius Elder-Voicu violin enters into dialogue with the classical guitar and bandoneon in an artistic encounter inspired by the universe and creative spirit of the Romanian sculptor.

A vibrant celebration of music and art, in which the sound of the Stradivarius violin encounters Brâncuși’s spirit.

Tickets and Subscriptions

On the Digital Stage, monthly, quarterly and annual subscriptions include more than 90 available performances, with three new premieres added every month. Theatre, film, dance and music lovers can choose a 12-month subscription for the price of six months—RON 299—or a three-month subscription for the price of two months—RON 89. The monthly subscription costs RON 49 per month.

Viewers may also purchase an individual ticket, which provides access to a selected performance for RON 30. During the subscription period, performances may be watched anytime, anywhere and as many times as desired. Individual tickets remain valid for four hours from activation and the selection of the viewing interval.
